Ki-o-Rahi Rm 11 v Rm 14

Last term, as part of Room 11's Inquiry into Matariki they had been learning to play the traditional Maori game of Ki-o-Rahi based on the story of Rahi and the Patupaiarehe.  Room 11 taught us the game, unfortunately they were too good for us this time, but now we know how to play the game I am sure we will give them a better run for their money next time we play, because 'Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when you're part of a team!'

We have started a new topic for Mathematics about Fractions.
Today we talked about because we knew...

1/2 of 10=5 we also knew...

1/2 of 30=15     1/2 of 6=3     1/2 of 12=6     1/2 of 18=9

   1/2 of 20 = 10                      1/2 of 100 = 50
   1/2 of 40 = 20                      1/2 of 1 000 = 500
   1/2 of 80 = 40                      1/2 of 10 000 = 5 000
 1/2 of 160 = 80                      1/2 of 100 000 = 50 000
 1/2 of 320 = 160                    1/2 of 1 000 000 = 500 000...
 1/2 of 640 = 320
1/2 of 1 280 = 640
1/2 of 2 560 = 1 280...

1/4 of 10 = 2.5     1/2 of 10 = 5     3/4 of 10 = 7.5 so...

1/4 of 1 = 0.25     1/2 of 1 = 0.5     3/4 of 1 = 0.75

Room 14 Inquiry Project

During our Reading and Inquiry activities we looked through a lot of information about the ANZAC’s and their campaign at Gallipoli.

Click on the link below to not only take a look at all of the information that we discovered, but how we went about finding, sorting and presenting information.
